Joan Ann Plowright (born October 28, 1929 in Brigg, North Lincolnshire, England) is a British actress, widow of Lord Sir Laurence Olivier. Additionally to existence Lady Olivier, she was manufactured the Dame (DBE) in her have best in the Up to date Month's Honours for 2004. Career
Long called a superb theatre actress, Plowright trained at the Old Vic in London and made her stage debut around 1951 and her London debut in 1954. Within 1956 she joined the English Theatre Company and won the role of Margery Pincher in The Country Wife. She appeared in The Chairs (by Eugène Ionesco), Major Barbara, Saint Joan, and within 1958 she co-starred with first married man Sir Laurence Olivier in the original London production of John Osborne's The Entertainer.
Plowright continued to pop up inside stage & in films like The Entertainer and The Three Sisters. Around 1961 she was awarded a Tony for her role in A Taste of Honey on Broadway. Fallowing the brief hiatus to devote period to her personal she has returned to the screen & may be seen inside films like Dennis the Menace, Enchanted April and Tea With Mussolini.
When of July 2003 she was performing in the stage production Absolutely! (perhaps) in London.
Personal
Joan Plowright was number 1 married to Roger Gage. She divorced him & inside 1961 married Laurence Olivier. Together a few experienced deuce-ace babies, Richard, Tamsin and Julie-Kate. A few were married until 1989 (his death).
